Silent Nights

Silent night, holy night…

Oh, little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie,
Yet in the midst of such serenity
I hear a tiny Baby cry;
He didn't choose to come
Where the cantata sang
With prophecies about His birth,
But in the shadows
Of those stained-glass walls,
Our Savior came to earth.

'Cause great things often come
from silent nights,
He chose a quiet, simple stable
Instead of glitter, noise and lights,
Oh, Lord, help us just to pull away
from all the busyness of life;
'Cause great things often come
from silent nights.

Still waters run deep,
So I've heard it told;
But in this world of noise and hurry
I see a shallowness unfold,
We need to make the time to spend
some quiet time alone with Christ,
'Cause that's the only way
His Word can bring forth,
Great things from our lives.

Oh silent nights, oh holy nights,
Wandering star, now led by Light;
They that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength,
So be still my soul and know
that He is God.
