This Day the Scripture is Fulfilled

He was standing in the synagogue,

the scroll was handed to Him,

He read it as if to know history

and of history's origin;

With a light in His eyes

He read Isaiah's prophecy

He knew it was speaking of Himself,

Oh if the people could just see.

They should have known who He was

when He read that on that day;

And with every eye fixed on Him

He closed the scroll,

And I can almost hear Him say:

He said, "This day,

This Scripture is fulfilled in your ears,"

This day the plan of God

for today appeared,

Lord, help me recognize

Today and its Message revealed,

This day this Scripture is fulfilled.

And so it is today, people still fail to see

What hour that we're living in,

What prophecy is meant to be;

Blinded by our science,

Schools, and man's theology,

The churches searched

and searched for Him;

But He's hidden in simplicity,

He not only proved His Word,

but He wrote it in the sky,

And those very words that Jesus spoke,

Once again, I can hear Elijah cry

He said, "This day,

This Scripture is fulfilled in your ears,"

This day the plan of God

for today appeared,

Lord, help me recognize

Today and its Message revealed,

This day this Scripture is fulfilled.
