Even if You Slay Me, Lord
Why should my portion of life be free of sorrow and pain?
When the Master of eternity bore my guilty shame
Why should I cry when trials come in defeat to my foe?
When over death Christ claimed the victory over sin in hell below
I dare not John would waits for me though sorrow pain or misery
In love to You I will ever proclaim
Even if you slay me Lord, I’ll love You
‘Twas love that pierced Your heart at Calvary
And I’ll humbly yield should You require my every hope and my desire
I give my all as You gave Your only Son
I surrender, Lord, that perfect will be done
I think of once who’ve come before such as Job who kept the faith
How through all his lost bravely said “the Lord gives and takes away”
I will forever trust Your plan that You know what’s best for me
Lord, I sacrifice my will to You perform Your work in me
It is through trials You test and prove to draw Your children close to You
And whatever my lot by faith I’ll always say
