The Way of the Cross

He called to us, with love so pure and strong
Take up your cross, come follow and belong
Deny yourself, and trust Me on this road
In Christ alone, the full redemption's owed

The way of cross, it leads me all the way home
Through trials and thorns, I know I'm never alone
In the steps of my Savior, I will faithfully abide,
His sacrifice on Calvary, my Guide through every stride

No greater love, has ever touched the earth
Than He laid down, His life to show our worth
If we would follow Him, we too must bear
The cross He's given, each one with humble care

For He endured the shame, the thorns and pain
To break the power of death and every chain
Despising shame, He bore the cost for all
Our hope was won, upon that rugged cross

The narrow road, though hard and full of strife
Is where the Shepherd leads us into life
For every step, His presence is our stay
In Him we die to self and find the way

His yoke is light, His burden's full of grace
He strengthens us, to run the holy race
Through trials of faith, we find our joy anew
In Christ's embrace, His peace will see us through

One day, the cross will finally be laid down
And we'll receive, the glorious victor's crown
With open arms, He'll welcome every one
The faithful saints, redeemed by God's own Son
